[There's a long pause because that's a lot of information to get all in one go, and he's glad he decided to do this over voice rather than video.

The sound of wind starts up again.]

... Well, I'm not going to tell anyone. You - You've met Bodhi, right? I know it's not the same, exactly, but --

Yeah, Bodhi is a good person. He — he did the right thing.

[Yup, he just said betraying the Empire was the right thing to do, rip. He's going to file this away in the column of things not to think about again.]

[There's a few more seconds of silence on the end of the line, as Poe tries to reconcile a large array of feelings that he isn't sure he knows how to handle. Every time his mind slides to Kylo Ren he can feel the chill go through him, the slight shake in his hands. Damn it. Damn it.

But it didn't matter. Whatever he was, or whatever he did back home, Eli was still Eli.]

Pretty sure you're a good man, too. [His voice was a little rougher than he meant it, but it was the truth. He cleared his throat.]

... Where am I picking you up?

[Eli let's it go, for Poe. He figures that when and only if Poe is ready he'll talk. Otherwise Eli was not to intrude.

Eli had given Poe a secret in exchange for his. For now that was enough.]

I'm just a little ways down the street, near #005 De Chima. Figured it'd be a bit easier if I came out and walked a bit.

Alright. I'm getting close.

[There's another long pause because Poe is still fucking processing and doesn't know how to do it.]

[He cleared his throat again.]

... Look, Eli --

[His words failed him again, the sound of wind the only thing coming over the comm.]

We're friends, Poe. Or at least I hope we can be.

[The underlining I like you was there. And Eli did, as a person Poe was nice.]

[There was another long pause, but when Poe spoke again, his voice was a lot more relaxed than it had been.]

Yeah.

I don't think you need to hope.

I'm already on my way.
