"Nothing. Which is a good thing. If the Order had caught her or Skywalker, it's all we'd be hearing about."
He worried. Of course he did, hours made of up of random minutes spent staring at ceilings or into space, thinking about the crazy desert girl. But it would be too great a risk to send communications with so many looking for her.
"She'll be fine."
He let go of Poe only to open the speeder door for him.
"She'll outlive all of us," Poe agreed ruefully, unsure if he was happy or
worried, and unsure if it mattered. He climbed in the speeder with far more
grace than he had at the beginning of the week - he was far from fully
healed, but it didn't hurt to walk around anymore.
"Droids aren't known for sending letters, but BB-8 still sends me updates.
He's flying with Nera."
"I think he considers us more his than you do," He said, offering him a
warm smile, and referring to both himself and Rey. Finn wasn't the only one
who brought her up, on the regular.
Once Finn was seated, Poe powered up the speeder, and took off at a good
click into the trees, before breaking up above the canopy.
Finn smiled a little ruefully over at Poe, but didn't comment on the speeding right out of the gate. That was unavoidable with a the pilot, and certainly didn't look like he was any worse for wear. Poe was still an incredibly capable soldier himself, Finn trusted him.
"I think the only reason you aren't being forced to give daily updates is
because he's too busy. That, or he doesn't have access to your comm link."
Despite the speed, the weather was beautiful so the drive was easy - even
if he did skim so low over the tree tops that Finn could probably lean out
and touch them, if he wanted.
"You know there used to be a rebel base here, right?"
Poe settled in, leaning against the side so he could focus on Poe as he spoke. The view was great, but he liked this one better. The man really needed to hurry up with the healing. He looked more natural is the pilot seat. His tone turned sarcastic as he remembered the version of the history he'd been told.
"And the battle that was Skywalker's first attempt at making the galaxy crumble into chaos."
"Yeah, that one." He teased, flashing Finn a grin before looking back to
where he was going. "Well it's not far from here. The actual base is gone -
they scrapped almost everything, so that they couldn't be traced, but. It
was built in these huge old ruins. Those are still there."
Finn finally turned to actually look out, like they'd be right in front of them, at that. He'd spent most of his life on a station. History, the real stuff not the Order Approved version, was something new.
"The Massassi," Poe replied, but they weren't in sight yet - nothing but
jungle as far as the eye could see.
"They were warriors. A long, long time ago. Thousands of years. I think Dad
said around 5000 years? Apparently they were enslaved by the Sith. They're
long gone, now. Extinct. But the temple is still there."
"Five thousand years. Wonder how much's actually changed."
The Sith were still around, creating unwilling armies and trying to crush the galaxy underfoot. It made the idea of just running off or, hell, staying here and trying to carve out what they could flicker appealingly in his mind again.
Finn glanced at Poe, like he was nervous the man could read his thoughts, then turned his attention back outside.
Fortunately for Finn, Poe couldn't read minds on any level what-so-ever.
That was Rey's department.
"Not a whole lot," he said wryly. "But there's a lot less Sith. So that's
one thing I will take. I can't imagine what some of the pre-republic wars
were like."
And he'd been fighting for a while now.
Slowly, something white could be see on the horizon, just barely breaking
the tree line.
There was that, slow and steady progress. With a lot of steps back along the way, but still. It was a galaxy where people like Poe and Rey were alive, where someone like him could fight his way to freedom.
"Here we go," Poe said, leaning forward as the trees broke under them,
giving way to an overgrown plane - with several tall ruined pyramids almost
growing out of the green. He sped downwards and brought the speeder to a
halt at the foot of the steps of one, before leaning back, smiling.
"This whole place would have been crawling with X-Wings..."
"A few more weeks," Finn reminded him. Just a few more weeks then he could go run around X-wings all he wanted.
He leaned in to give Poe a kiss right on the corner of his mouth, then climbed out of the speeder. Despite the words, it was hard not to be at least a little humbled in a place like this. The history of the Republic had happened here, and long before that a different people that hated the Sith. He dragged a hand along one of the crumbling walls.
"Amazing, right?" Poe said, still clearly thinking more about the X-Wings
than the ruins he had grown up with, but just sharing this place with Finn
brought a real and tangible joy to his chest. He watched Finn with pure
adoration for a long moment before hopping out after him, reaching out to
put both hands on his waist and turn him around, and without another word,
push him back against the ancient wall.
He leaned in, first, just to breath Finn in, waiting a heartbeat as he
hovered there, before finally crossing the last few centimetres to take a
deep, claiming kiss.
There would be time for looking at ruins later, he decided. All the time in the galaxy. Any tiny shred of resistance that might have tried to struggle up died in the face of that kiss, from the possessiveness of it. Finn could only moan softly and slip his hands under Poe's shirt and jacket, needing to touch the man. Now.
Even if he'd tried to make an argument, Poe would have made more, mostly
with his mouth, and possibly with his teeth. The bandages were still there,
but they were far cleaner now, and had to be changed far less often, and
took up less of his chest - so it wasn't hard for Finn to find skin.
Poe's hands stayed right where they were, firm grip keeping Finn pinned to
the wall.
"You know, I've been feeling a lot stronger, lately..."
It was a murmured approval, this entire bit of aggression very much appreciated. Finn licked his lips, working up the courage to say the next bit without feeling ridiculous. Poe could do smooth lines, Finn still felt like a kid stumbling through a bad porn vid.
"The rebel going to interrogate the stormtrooper this time?"
It didn't quite work, the words bringing a blush. But at least he'd made it through them.
The blush made it adorable, which was probably not the mood that Finn was going for, and Poe ha to actively keep from grinning. Which he did by burying his face into Finn's throat and dragging teeth over skin.
"I've heard you carry information vital to the survival of the Resistance," Poe purred, his thumbs digging hard into Finn's hips.
The loud moan probably wasn't in keeping with the scenario. The video- and, damn it all, he had gone back and watched it all the way on his own later- had involved some token resistance. Something Finn couldn't even begin to muster with Poe holding his hips like that. His hands splayed over Poe's lowed back, trying to pull the man closer.
He resisted the pull, only long enough to prove that he could, before sliding his body up against Finn's, pressing his thigh hard up against his groin.
"Oh I know you will," he growled, letting one hand release it's grip so that he could shove it up and under Finn's shirt, raking his nails down his chest. "I have plenty of ways to make that pretty mouth of yours sing..."
It should have sounded ridiculous, made him snort the way the video did. But it was Poe and a shudder went through him as he moaned again and let his hands fall from the other man. Clearly, he wasn't the one in control here.
It was ridiculous. But in the way that it would be ridiculous later,
when his blood wasn't running quite so hot, and when Finn wasn't moaning in
a way that made Poe want to tear all his clothes off in record time and
then do some things he really really shouldn't.
When they got back to base, though. There was going to be a talk.
And in the back of his mind, still, was Rey. A spectre, over his shoulder,
watching him, and he wondered vaguely for a moment if Jedi could see that
far. Could feel that far. Luke had said he could feel his friend's pain.
Did that extend to pleasure...?
It was a thought that really shouldn't be half as erotic as it was, and he
shoved the thought down as hard as he could. (Or at least he tried.)
He pulled Finn's shirt up roughly, over his head, but used it to twist
Finn's arms back behind him, pinned against the wall, as his teeth bit down
into Finn's collar bone.
"I know you have the plans," He growled lowly, his thigh pressing with a
steady rhythm up against Finn's groin. "And I'll find them on you even if I
have to go over every inch of your skin with tooth and nail--"
He'd never thought he'd enjoy handing off control, not after the Order and the years it took him to get any control over his life. From his sleep schedule to his diet to his hair, everything had been out of his hands. But this was different, a choice and not a demand, letting Poe put him in a vulnerable state out of trust rather than having it forced on him. It made him hard to the point he almost hurt from it. And Poe wasn't letting up.
Finn tipped his head back with a shout as Poe bit him, hips trying to jerk forward and having no space to do it. The game, the game was still happening, but it was a long moment of panting before he could manage a reply.
"I don't...I don't know what you're talking about."
