He smiled against Poe's hair, fingers now stroking at the back of his neck where he could touch skin. Real, actual skin instead of the self-imposed exile that was the blanket between them.
Maybe Kes had a point. There was a war and horrible things to stop, innocent people to save. But they could just stay here, right here, and Finn was pretty sure he would be content for the rest of life.
"I, uh...I Knew that for a while. Thought you would've figured it out first."
That made him laugh, self deprecatingly, the weight that was lifting from
him surprising, in that he didn't even realise how much had been there, or
for how long.
"Yeah, well-- I figured it out a long, long time ago," he admitted, eyes
closed as Finn's fingers traced against his skin. "Just didn't really want
to - I don't know. Complicate things."
His mind doesn't even flash to Rey, he's too in the moment, too wrapped around and up in the man in his arms to think of anything but them. Of losing focus on the battle field, of losing it worse when he couldn't be near Poe all the time off of it. He'd been in love a long time too, it just hadn't really seemed like something to say.
He swallowed hard, not sure where to go after such a...thing. Huge, but so small. A handful of words, of putting out there what they'd both already known. But Poe was on to something. Saying it out loud made it more real somehow, made it better.
"But I'm...everything you want me to be, Poe. That might clear things up."
"That sounds like a dangerous promise," Poe teased him, his heart near
bursting. He had to move - had to shift himself so that he could actually
find Finn's eyes, his face, his lips, and he took a kiss that would have
been harder if he could stop from smiling.
"Lucky for you, you're already everything I want."
It was a novel thing, being enough. But that wasn't what made him sigh softly into Poe's kiss, an answering smile forming as he realized just how much the man was actually radiating with approval, with agreement. Being himself and being what Poe wanted. That was a gift.
He couldn't imagine losing it.
No. He wasn't going to ruin with with Kes' voice in his head, instead tilting his head to deepen the kiss, his hand once more holding Poe close against him by the back of the neck rather than just lightly stroking. The damned blankets made it harder, but he pushed forward anyway, not breaking the kiss, trying to put Poe's back on the mattress and himself above him.
Poe groaned lowly, the smile finally fading, even if the happiness didn't.
It was just that his mouth very much wanted to be occupied differently, his
lips parting to pull Finn into a deeper kiss, sliding onto his back easily,
his hands slipping up to grasp the sides of Finn's head, nails digging into
short curled hair.
"Are you really sure about these blankets?" He asked in a whisper, the grin
slipping back to his lips as he pulled back a hair's breadth away.
Now Poe was half wrapped in them, like a child-made mummy that was going to take work to get him out of. Work Finn just didn't have the patience for. Without breaking the next kiss he pulled the sheets down enough to expose most of Poe's ribs and up, and counted that as a win. If Poe wanted to finish that battle, it was his to take up.
For now, Finn had a different priority. That first night, the words and actions and Poe's sudden retreat hadn't really left his thoughts. For as long as he'd known there were feelings between them, it was only fair he let the other man in on just how long they'd been there on his end. Or that was the rational excuse. The rest was was the pure, driving thrill of having heard Poe acknowledge he was his.
Poe's shoulder may be cleanly exposed, but considering how long it had been and how near frantic with the need Finn was at the moment to do this, he didn't really have time to remember the exact spot. So he approximated, kissing the skin of Poe's shoulder before he glanced up to make eye contact, making sure he had the man's attention.
"Mine."
Then he bit down hard, closing his eyes as he refreshed that long healed mark from their first night.
His hands had already been moving to tug at the tangled sheets around his
his - flashes of fantasy of him putting them in a pile and burning the
whole lot of them outside - but then Finn's eyes raised and met his, and
for a half a breath Poe swore he felt his heart stop.
Mine.
The bite was hard and sharp, the flare of pain in its wake instant, his
whole body tightening in on itself - or as well it could, trapped in those
sheets. It wasn't just pain, however.
The meaning took.
The meaning took with such a force that all the blood in his body
immediately rushed straight to his groin. He was pretty sure something so
painful was not supposed to feel that good, but fuck. It did. It was
claiming and perfect and everything he wanted.
He hadn't even noticed how loudly he'd groaned when it had happened -
probably would have tried to quiet himself if he had - but he couldn't care
at all - surging upwards as soon as Finn was done to take him in an almost
painfully hard kiss.
There was still some blood on his teeth when Poe kissed him, Finn actually knocked back a little in surprise at the ferocity of it. But only for half a heart beat. Then he groaned into Poe's mouth, the effect what he'd done was having on Poe the single most incredible thing he'd ever seen.
Poe struggled with blankets, but Finn was no help. He ground his hips down hard against the other man's as the kiss went on, any thought for noise or damage or pain gone. He needed Poe. Now, in anyway he could have him.
The kiss had the heavy taste of copper and if anything that only made it
worse - better - and Finn was not the only one with a sudden, urgent and
desperate need. He gave up on the idea of the blankets - too much precious
time to lose in fighting them - and instead hooked his fingers into the
back pockets of Finn's trousers and pulled him hard against him, grinding
them together despite the layers of fabric acting as barriers.
He refused to let his lips slide away, even as his lungs complained. His
hips rolled hard up into Finn's even as he dragged him down, rutting
against him like there was nothing else in the universe he needed more.
(There really wasn't, except maybe a device that could dissolve fabric
instantly.)
From past experience with the very man he was trying to grind into the mattress below him, Finn knew this was going to end messy. Messy in a place they didn't live, with a man Finn had semi-guilted into doing a very personal and difficult thing later today. He could not have managed to care less about those facts if they'd come to him from the First Order itself.
He broke the kiss only in order to put his mouth back on Poe's neck, not biting this time but applying enough pressure with lips and tongue alone he may as well have been trying to break the skin. It was too much and not enough, the roll of hips and his mouth wandering up and down both sides of Poe's neck. There would be no question, none, where Finn and Poe stood in relation to each other now.
He immediately protested the loss of Finn's mouth with a groan -- which
turned into a healthy, husky moan as soon as he felt the pressure on his
neck.
"Yours--" The word ground out between his teeth - an affirmation, a
promise, and a plea all at the same time.
His fingers dug hard into Finn's backside, biting the fabric, and if they
had been anywhere else - *anywhere *else, there would be a lot more
insistent and urgent demands being made. But Poe was horribly aware of just
how unprepared he was, at the moment. So fine. Rutting it was. He felt like
he was fifteen again, dry humping for the first time. He hadn't figured it
would be that hot, later on in life. (He was so, so wrong.)
It should be embarrassing, but after such an emotionally charged half hour
he didn't care. Poe growled Finn's possession and it was over. He bit down
on the other side of Poe's neck, giving him a matching pair of marks, one
on either side.
Then collapsed. Well, for the most part, he stayed on his elbows, chest an
inch above Poe's to keep from injuring him. He'd be there for Poe. In just
a moment.
He was still aching - trapped far more securely by the blankets around his
hips than Finn had been by his trousers - and so though he wasn't far
behind, he still wasn't over the hill in time to meet Finn there. The
second bite nearly did it - Poe letting out a helpless moan as Finn marked
him once more - but still he was left bereft.
And then Finn spoke, and a pleasure completely different from the one in
his groin spread through his chest - and he would have sworn his skin went
hot to the touch.
"Somehow I got that impression," He replied, grinning, but the adoration
was so clear and complete on his face that he may as well have lit a
beacon, to show how much the words themselves meant to him.
"Yeah...I ,uh. Who just leaves it at 'I know'? So..."
He was panting, could still feel Poe hard and wanting against him, and while he had the physical stamina to continue, he still held still. He'd known. He'd known, but having all the words out there and floating around and two gorgeous, sluggishly bleeding marks on Poe's shoulders bookending a cacophony of bruises along his neck...it was too much. Too much to just take in and press forward without a moment of basking, of leaning down to press their mouths together again.
"To steal you away into the night and never be seen again," Poe replied,
grinning into the kiss.
"But in the meantime - these damn blankets burned," He murmured, finding
Finn's wrist. "And if you don't touch me, Finn, I'm not going to be able to
leave this room-- You have no idea how badly I want you, right now."
He snorted softly, not at all attractive, he is sure. But he could manage.
Even if it meant not touching him at all for a minute.
Finn rolled up and off the bed, stripping the blankets away with a the
quick efficiency born of years of training. And Poe still wasn't naked. He
hooked his fingers into the waist of his pants and looked up at his face.
The efficiency was - well - incredibly hot, even though Poe knew it was
probably years of stormtrooper training behind it. Maybe because of
it. But that was a thought for later, and one he wasn't about to voice.
"Yes'sir," he replied immediately. Okay. Maybe voiced a little. But he
clasped his hands onto the mattress below and pushed his hips up to help
Finn get them off - though that proved a little difficult, thanks to what
was in them. He was, in a word, very, very... interested.
He pressed a kiss to Poe's stomach as he worked. If he had more energy he'd
have a renewed interest as well. But after traveling and the emotional
drain, he was more than content to appreciate the man as is, smiling at the
response as he threw his pants to the side.
"Incredibly handsome?" Poe asked, settling back down against the mattress
and letting his hands raise to run over Finn's shoulders. His own shoulders
were getting quite stiff, thanks to the darkening bruises, and the blood
that was drying there.
Considering the number of times he has said it before, it's almost an
inside joke. But he means it. With every fiber. And he leaves it there as
he takes Poe in his mouth.
He should have expected it, really. Should have known. And yet, still, the
word caught him by surprise, and he laughed - hard enough to make his ribs
ache, held tightly by the bandages - but the laugh doesn't laugh. It's cut
off, instantly, as Fin takes him. Poe's fingers dig hard into Finn's
shoulders in response, a hissed curse slipping from his lips.
It didn't last long. He'd been on edge for long enough that it took a few
strokes, a few swirls of Finn's tongue and he was well and truly done - and
utterly exhausted.
"... getting... dangerous with that..." He accused breathlessly.
"Yeah, I think I could rest now," Poe murmured, his smile lazy and relaxed,
head turning to chase that kiss even as he pulled Finn in closer beside
him. Sans blankets.
"--love you, Finn," he murmured, taking another kiss, before resting his
head down on Finn's shoulder and closing his eyes. He was out so fast he
didn't even hear if there was a reply.
Finn laid there for a long time, the weight of Poe on his shoulder and an idle stroking of the other man's hair happening without a reply. There'd be a later, of course. Poe's father entering the room, seeing the damage on his son. But for now there was only stroking the man's hair and looking around at his childhood dreams.
Finn smiled softly, settling in for the wait. Whatever happened, it was more than worth it.
